Unsilenced
Mirror, wood, acrylic, two-channel video
2021

This work is a testament to the lives of college women. For this amalgam of sound, light, and storytelling, I synthesized information taken from a voluntary campus-wide survey for women. My objective was to raise awareness about the daily micro-aggressions, sexual assault, and domestic abuse we experience. I encourage viewers to engage in an open and honest dialogue about language’s ability to form a power structure and subsequently configure identity.
We deserve a voice.
We deserve to inhabit space without compromise.
We deserve to live an unapologetic existence.
This exhibit is my reflection, as is it yours.
Please join me in this conversation about power, equity, and language.
We are here, we are loud, and we will not be silenced.
